Boundless Mercy

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not”. The mercy of God is not a right nor a privilege. We don’t deserve it neither are we qualified for it. If it is merited, then it is not mercy. “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion” (Romans 9:15). but it is of the Lord's mercy that we are not consumed

Lamentations 3 vs. 22 (NKJV)

Many times, we find ourselves in certain situations that we cannot explain how we got there, and it becomes even more difficult to come out of such situations.

If you cast your mind back, you will remember that you had found yourself in some terrible situations that should have consumed you, but through the Lord’s mercies, you were not consumed’.

Do you remember when you lost that job? You might had felt like the end has come. There seemed to be no hope in sight, but God showed up. Today, you are better off. Through the Lord’s mercies, you were not consumed’.

How about that awful sickness that came; consumed your finances, leaving doctors and nurses confused, making you helpless and hopeless. You scaled through somehow. Through the Lord’s mercies, you were not consumed’.

Unknown to you, some set of people conspired against you. They lied that you are who you are not and that you did what you didn’t. These lies were said to tarnish your image and dent your reputation. Through the Lord’s mercies, you were not consumed’.

The night is a time for unseen battles and victories in the Spirit realm. The forces of darkness hovered over your soul to destroy your life, but He that never sleeps, nor slumbers set a wall of fire round about you. Amidst the storm, you slept and woke up like a baby. Through the Lord’s mercies, you were not consumed’.

You were once a sinner, you had committed so many terrible sins that made people ashamed to be identified with you. Many times, the rod of the law should had sent you to jail or perhaps the wrath of God should had struck you dead. Somehow, you met Jesus. Your sins were pardoned, and your life was transformed. Through the Lord’s mercies, you were not consumed’.

The list is endless. There are many times that we had gotten to our wit end, but the mercies of God caught us, bent us and mended us.

The mercy of God is not a license for carelessness; rather, it’s a reason for gratitude and repentance where need be. The psalmist prayed in Psalm 51:1; “Have mercy upon me O God, according to thy lovingkindness, according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions”. What a prayer that was, God is always willing and ready to answer such prayers.

As you examine your life today; remember those moments you had been helpless, and God showed you mercy. Thank Him for those special moments.

Are you in a difficult situation right now? Are you helpless and hopeless? Cry out to God for mercy and His mercies will locate you at the point of your need.

Shalom.
